Something Splendid is an inspiring community for online craft workshops. Not only do the classes include a perfectly packaged kit but also awesome HD video tutorials, detailed instructions & class message forum.

  • Register and go to your email to verify your username.
  • Choose an online workshop. Once you purchase a class it will appear in the tab “Your Classes.”
  • When you go to “Your Classes” tab you will find information about tools needed and important dates.
  • If you purchased a kit you will receive supplies to make exactly what the workshop will be teaching. (There’s also an option to just take the class lessons & use your own supplies.)
  • Get any needed tools together while waiting for kit to arrive in the mail. Usually two weeks once registration closes before class starts.

Corsage Flowers

April 14th, 2011

Since it’s April and where I live we are teased with glimpses of sunshine it’s only natural that I should add my own touch of Spring where I can, right? That’s the least I can do during these dragging-on-forever-cold months.

Corsage flowers makes a great workshop as we get ready for spring.

Turning strips of fabric into flowers is something I just can’t get enough of… please say you can relate. I’m not the only one that sees a friend with a flower clipped in her hair and wants to run to the nearest fabric store to make one of every color, am I? Okay, good. Then I’m bet you would enjoy this class.

Through awesome HD video tutorials you will learn 5 different techniques to make your own fabric flowers. The kit will include cream, taupe and pink fabric, pins to wear flowers as a corsage & a sash to tie flowers on as a belt, if you wish. The lessons will also include ways to incorporate flowers in your wardrobe. Should be splendid.

This is the Rosie who not only showed how cute the flowers are but she styled the photography shoot and I think she is charming from head to toe. It was great working along side her and I can’t wait to collaborate with her again.

You can wear them all together or just the neutrals or add some pink for some pop. Sign up for Corsage Flowers class here.

Supplies Needed:

  • Needle and Thread
  • Hot glue or Fabric glue (Fabritac)

Envelope Book

April 12th, 2011

One of the first classes I’m teaching is a darling mini book made out of chipboard. Decorated with cute Crate Paper patterned paper and stickers. Each page inside is a glassine bag so you can add love notes, photos and other memorable keepsakes.
This would make a great gift for Mother’s Day, a keepsake for yourself, or give to one of your children.

I love this book because I keep little tid-bits of our lives and it is fun to have a place to showcase them.

The workshop will include video tutorials, detailed instructions and photos. Lessons will be posted weekdays at 9 am central time. You will be sent an email as a reminder to check out the class. Remember this is a self-paced class so you can work on it when it is convenient for you. The lessons are outlined below:

  1. Making the chipboard Album
  2. Front Cover
  3. Attaching the Bags
  4. Inspiration: What memorabilia to save and what to chuck?
  5. Dressing up the pages part 1
  6. Dressing up the pages part 2
  7. Inspiration
  8. Journaling Cards
  9. What to include inside

  • Scissors
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Modge Podge or other good liquid adhesive
  • I also like to use Elmer’s Memory Book Adhesive
  • Exacto Knife or Cutting Knife to trim around the edges of book
  • Crop-A-Dile or something that can punch a hole through chipboard
  • Eyelet setter
  • Score Blade

Jefra & Rosie

March 24th, 2011

Loved spending the day with Jefra & Rosie as we took photos for Something Splendid. If you read my blog then you know that I think that Jefra is brilliant when it comes to photography. The photos she captures of my daughters are like when you are waking up from a dream or just falling asleep. They are magical.  Then there’s Rosie… every single time I have seen her she was charming from head to toe. I just adore her style and her vision! She brought the perfect touches for the shoot and I can’t wait to see more of her styling.
